Q&A
What made you focus on outdoor travel?
Nature has always been my grounding place, and Japan’s landscapes are too special not to share with others.
Favorite region in Japan?
Nagano, for its mountains and year-round outdoor activities.
Most challenging outdoor trip?
Guiding a group across the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trails during heavy rain; it tested both endurance and spirit.
Best tip for outdoor travelers?
Pack light but smart. Japan has excellent outdoor infrastructure, but weather changes quickly in the mountains.
What do you always carry with you?
A good pair of trail shoes. They’re more versatile than hiking boots for most conditions in Japan.
